Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have questions? We are here to help you.

So how do you compare to others who are pitching to me? They make themselves sound so good.

We understand choosing a publishing partner is a difficult decision. Click the button below to learn how we compare to traditional publishing and self-publishing companies.

We invite you to have a 15-minute free consultation with one of our Acquisition Editors. Can I trust you? I hear to much about self-publishing scams.

You are wise to be skeptical. Sadly, just hanging a Christian shingle does not mean business practices will measure up. In fact, few, including those with recognizable names, are trustworthy. One of the best ways to know if someone is who they say they are is to examine the company they keep. Are they invited to teach and speak at Christian Writers’ Conferences? Who is linking to their website and where do the company’s leaders blog or share their knowledge? What do their authors say? Do an Internet search. Then ask God. He will tell you in your Spirit, and then you’ll know.

Is this something I could do myself—it looks like a lot of money to spend?

One of the questions we ask authors wondering if they have the technical ability to do this themselves is, “Do you know there is another way to center headers other than the tab key? Do you know how to set an indent or margins without the tab key? And finally, do you know what keys on your keyboard add code behind the scenes when using Microsoft Word—code is death to proper uploading for distribution.”

Here are a few questions to ask yourself if you are weighing your options:

  • How much time do I have to learn what I don’t know?
  • How computer literate am I and do I want to learn what I don’t know?
  • Is my topic considered a niche’ market and, therefore, would not gain the interest of a traditional publisher?
  • Am I better off spending time writing and marketing my books rather than spending the time to learn and do all that it takes to self-publish?
  • Do I have a clear vision for this book and thus desire to maintain control (traditional publishers have control when you sign with them)?
  • Do I want to keep more of my own profits or is it worth it to me to wait for a publish and share my profits with them?
How will I sell my books?

As with every publishing option out there, marketing is the author’s responsibility. However, at EABooks you are not alone. Each package offers some marketing and promotional aids, and when your book is published you can participate in our post-publication author connection community to join hands with fellow EABooks authors. Monthly newsletters also give tips and ideas for marketing. For those who want to do more, our Marketing Coaching service is the leader in the industry for helping new authors build a firm foundation for their marketing with one-on-one coaching for 3-4 months. See our services for a detailed explanation.
